Inflation

Inflation is a measure of the rate of increase in the prices of goods and services in an economy over a given period of time. Inflation occurs when the overall level of prices in an economy increases, reducing the purchasing power of a given amount of money.
This can be caused by a number of factors, including increased demand for goods and services, supply chain disruptions, changes in the money supply, and government policies such as fiscal stimulus or quantitative easing.
