Billy Joel reassures fans he’s not totally abandoning New York for Florida

This snowbird promises he’s still in a New York state of mind.

Despite listing his 20-year Long Island manor, Billy Joel isn’t entirely movin’ out of the Empire State.

“Just because I’m selling that house doesn’t mean I’m leaving Long Island. I still have a house on Long Island,” the Piano Man, 74, told the audience at his New Year’s Eve concert at Elmont’s UBS Arena — referring to his longtime property in the village of Centre Island, which hit the market back in May, Page Six reported.

While Joel will maintain his freshly renovated Sag Harbor summer home, he does, however, plan to significantly relocate to the Sunshine State.

“I’m just gonna spend a little more time in Florida like old Jewish guys from Long Island do,” he joked.

Indeed, so many former residents of Centre Island have fled down south that today the area is something of a ghost town, The Post reported over the summer.

Joel also made light of the fact that his 26-acre Island property hasn’t yet found a buyer, laughing that “nobody” wants to buy a five-bedroom, eight-bathroom estate named Middlesea for its high asking price of $49 million.

The New York-born artist purchased the North Shore spread back in 2002 for $22.5 million, and went on to double its acreage and residential space in his subsequent 23 years of ownership.

Today, the mansion boasts a 20,000-plus-square-foot main house, 2,000 feet of waterfront, a helicopter pad, a floating dock, a boat ramp, an indoor pool and a bowling alley, among other amenities, The Post previously reported.

It’s located in Oyster Bay, the same town that contains Joel’s native hamlet of Hicksville.

The “Uptown Girl” star briefly pulled the compound off the market in November, a move he explained to Sunday’s audience was due to waiting on renovations to be completed.
