Palm Beach palace asks $37.5 million

Palm Beach

It was designed by New York-born Marion Sims Wyeth, who is best known for creating lavish Palm Beach mansions for the rich and famous — including Mar-a-Lago, which he designed for Marjorie Merriweather Post.

Wyeth, known for creating extraordinary “temples of privilege,” was also the architect of Shangri La, Doris Duke’s residence in Diamond Head, Hawaii, outside Honolulu, which was built in 1937.

He’s the subject of “From Palm Beach to Shangri La: The Architecture of Marion Sims Wyeth,” by Jane S. Day.

This Palm Beach, Fla., listing, at 120 Via Del Lago, is a massive 13,000 square feet and comes with seven bedrooms.

There’s also an elevator, natch, and a formal dining room overlooking the gardens, a loggia for entertaining and a guest house with custom woodwork.

The outdoor spaces, which include a pool and cabana, feature Mario Nievera-designed gardens, with mature sea grapes and coconut palms framing the property.

The broker is Gary Pohrer of Douglas Elliman.
