This seaside retreat has freshly taken the crown for Cape Cod’s most expensive sale of all time.
In Osterville, Massachusetts, a seven-bedroom, 14-bathroom compound has sold for a record-breaking $22.75 million, the highest-priced residential real estate sale ever recorded in Cape Cod, according to the Boston Globe.
“It’s highest I’m aware of … of anything recorded in the MLS” in Barnstable County, which is includes Cape Cod, Paul Grover, who brokered the sale, told the publication, a hunch which has been confirmed by the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors.
The buyer is James Langway, the operator of multiple Toyota dealerships, Boston.com reported.
The previous record-holder was a 9.6-acre Penzance Point property which, after listing for $25 million, eventually sold for $20 million in 2020.
Located at 835 Sea View Avenue, Cape Cod’s new priciest pad is set on 3.66 acres and boasts 280-feet of private sandy beach overlooking the Nantucket Sound, according to its listing, which notes that “virtually every room has ocean views and direct access to the outdoors.”
The 15,500 square feet of living space is divided into a main house and a guest house, connected to the primary residence through a “professionally designed” ground level gym.
Highlights of the indoor square footage include a 5,000-bottle wine cellar, golf simulator, massage room, home bar, multiple fireplaces and a kitchen with beamed cathedral ceilings.
As well, there’s custom millwork throughout, multiple decks and terraces and a full wing-sized primary suite that offers dual bathrooms, dual walk-in closets and a study.
The grounds additionally offer a swimming pool, summer kitchen, rolling lawns and the private stretch of beach.
“A staff house is discreetly tucked into the landscaping on the far side of the property and is divided into two apartments,” adds the listing. There are also seven heated garage spaces, a smart home automation system and geothermal HVAC system with HEPA filtration and humidification.
