“Pose” star Billy Porter, 54, has found a buyer for his Bellport, LI home.
The singer, Tony-winning actor and red carpet fashion icon listed the property in late February for $2.5 million, a price that was subsequently cut to $2.2 million, and is now listed as under contract. The price to be paid and new owner aren’t yet known.
Porter purchased the 4,500-square-foot abode with his now ex-husband Adam Smith in 2020, paying $1.4 million to call it home.
According to an interview he gave to the Evening Standard, he did not list it voluntarily, but was forced to after financial hardships brought on by last summer’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
“I have to sell my house,” the Tony-winner told the publication this past August. “Because we’re on strike. And I don’t know when we’re gonna go back [to work]. The life of an artist, until you make f— you money — which I haven’t made yet — is still check-to-check.”
A new movie and television show he’d been scheduled to begin in September had been impacted by the strikes, he went on, referencing a a widely reported quote attributed to an anonymous Hollywood executive and explaining that, “None of that is happening. So to the person who said ‘we’re going to starve them out until they have to sell their apartments,’ you’ve already starved me out.”
The property boasts a generous eat-in kitchen, multiple fireplaces, a formal dining room, a screened porch, a three-car garage, a tree house and a heated lap pool.
“With 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths and 1.1 acres of beautifully manicured grounds, this property offers complete privacy and unparalleled access to the unique amenities of a vibrant beach community that’s got everything from a ferry ride to HoHum Beach to golf and tennis at the Bellport Country Club,” read the listing, which was held by Loretta Drew of Old Purchase Properties, and is located approximately 70 miles from New York City.
