From the Department of When Life Hands You Lemons: After singer C.J. McMahon was dropped by the Australian deathcore band Thy Art Is Murder last summer, he has emerged in a new persona and a new career as a real estate agent with the brokerage Harcourts.

According to a report from the music news site Metal Injection, McMahon reinvented himself for his new career, with an updated hairstyle, a new social media site and business attire that covers his heavily tattooed arms.

“A new fresh start,” he announced on his Instagram page. “It took a lot for me to cut my hair after having long hair for 15 years … I have a new path and future in real estate and I want to hit the ground running.”

McMahon added that he wants to move beyond the brouhaha surrounding being ejected by his Thy Art is Murder bandmates.

“I have created a new Instagram for my new career @cjmcmahon_realestate for the people that would like to see my new future,” he said. “I beg and plead that the handful of people that hate me and just want to throw shade at me here do not follow this page and let me move on with my life.”
