A Soho penthouse at 285 Lafayette St., which shared a floor with that of the late rock icon David Bowie and his supermodel wife Iman, has sold for $14.95 million — down from its initial ask of $19.99 million in October 2022.
That’s also well below its last sale price. The seller, Leslie Ziff, an ex-wife of billionaire heir Dan Ziff, bought the residence for a higher $20.86 million in 2017 via an anonymous shell company.
The buyer, we hear, is a former Goldman Sachs and Pershing Square alum who now owns an AI tech company. (He even loved the furniture — staged by IMG’s Cheryl Eisen in textured neutrals and natural materials — so much that he bought it in a separate deal.)
The six-bedroom home is a roomy 5,350 square feet and comes with around 2,000 square feet of outdoor space across two private terraces, including one that was separated from Bowie and Iman’s former home by a row of planted bamboo.

The residence opens from a private elevator landing into a foyer, which leads to a large living and dining room. The unit’s design details include a total of 20 oversize windows, 11-foot-high ceilings, two gas fireplaces and French doors that lead out to the outdoor spaces.
There’s also a chef’s kitchen, which comes with a 146-bottle Sub-Zero wine fridge and access to one of the terraces.
The building, dating to the late 1800s, was converted to condos in 1999 — and eight penthouses now rise above the original six-story building.
The address was where New Yorkers erected a shrine following Bowie’s shocking 2016 death.
Bowie, who had secretly battled cancer, moved into the building with Iman in 1992, the year they married.
Listing brokers Brett Mitchell and Leonard Steinberg, of Compass, declined to comment on the deal.
