Here’s how much it costs to buy a home that faces NYC’s famed Metropolitan Museum of Art

New Yorkers obsessed with the annual Met Gala often line up across the street to watch celebs make their way up the red-carpeted stairs.

Now, fans with deep pockets have an opportunity to buy an apartment directly facing the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the Upper East Side.

According to a source, the seller of this home with extraordinary views is the famed four-time Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuarón, whose films include the space thriller “Gravity,” starring Sandra Bullock, as well as “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” “Children of Men,” “Roma,” and “Y Tu Mamá También.”

Cuarón’s representative declined to comment.

This large two-bedroom, 2½-bath apartment faces the museum head-on — along with Central Park — and it’s now on the market for $2.69 million, down from its original asking price of $3 million in 2021.

The apartment is at 1001 Fifth Ave., which was designed by modernist architect Philip Johnson.

The 10th-floor home — on Museum Mile — features a large living and dining room, oversize bay windows and a chef’s kitchen.

The 76-unit building, completed in 1979, has a limestone base and a large mansard roof that tops the front facade, flanked by hanging lanterns.

Amenities in the pet-friendly, full-service building include a concierge, a gym and a bike storage room.

The listing broker is Frances Katzen of Douglas Elliman, who declined to comment.
