Meghan Markle and Prince Harry take LA? 5 mansions the ex-royals may snatch up

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly real estate shopping in Los Angeles, and these lux compounds are right up their alley.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have nixed their plan to move to an $8 million plot of land above the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu and are now instead looking in LA, according to TMZ.

The pair vetoed the Malibu plot due to safety and community concerns after it became a media frenzy following reports of their visit, a source told the outlet.

The 39- and 42-year-old ex-royals bought their current nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom Montecito mansion for $14.65 million back in 2020, shortly after quitting the British monarchy.

It boasts rose gardens, a tennis court, a two-bedroom guest house and a tea house and makes Markle “feel free,” but after three years the couple is now ready to sell it — a move they’ve been reportedly considering since at least this July — and relocate closer to the bright lights, big city down the coast from their Santa Barbara County estate.

The unorthodox blue bloods haven’t yet toured any Los Angeles properties but, knowing their tastes and probable budget of between $15 and $20 million, these compounds seem likely contenders for the next stop on their worldwide privacy tour.

A country estate in Hidden Hills

In the star-studded Hidden Hills enclave, this over 11,600-square-foot main house is set on 2.5 acres complete with a seven-horse barn and six-car garage. Sprawling yet relatively humble, it offers plenty of lux amenities, including a 150-person underground nightclub, ideal for hanging with the elite while maintaining a somewhat relatable facade.

A villa in the Hollywood Hills

In the shadow of the Hollywood sign, this landmark Spanish estate offers the opportunity to own a bit of Tinseltown history. Built in the early 1920s, the property is set up on a winding drive atop a ridge and offers views of the sign, Lake Hollywood, downtown and the Pacific. There are multiple fireplaces, a courtyard with palms, a fountain and a general sense of old-school glamor.

An ivy-covered oasis

Also in Hidden Hills, this French country-style retreat offers classic elegance with its ivy-covered walls, wide-cut hardwood floors, beamed ceilings and manicured garden. There’s an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven imported from Italy, a tennis court, staff bedroom and it’s all set past a long rolling driveway because “privacy is paramount” according to the listing.

A glamorous manse in Beverly Hills

If the Sussexes are looking to return to Beverly Hills, where they stayed for three months at Tyler Perry’s palatial estate, this seven-bedroom in the 24-hour guard-gated community of Mulholland Estate will let them do it in style. There’s an elevator, a 10-car garage, a two-story guesthouse, a home theater, an infinity pool and a tasteful aesthetic of California charm throughout.

A trophy estate of a star’s widow

In the coveted Bird Streets neighborhood, this luxe property has the works and celebrity appeal: It is being sold by late comedian Rodney Dangerfield’s widow, Joan Dangerfield, who recently slashed the price significantly. Highlights include an Art Deco-inspired exterior, an outdoor shower and a bust of Rodney overlooking the pool.
