A California developer has proposed an apartment tower for Oklahoma City that would be the second tallest building in the nation.
According to a report in The Oklahoman, Scot Matteson has put forth a proposal to create a 134-story apartment tower as part of a mixed-use development. The 1,750-foot-high building would be more than twice as tall as Oklahoma City’s tallest building, the 50-story Devon Energy Center, and would be second tallest American structure – only the 1,776-foot-tall One World Trade Center in New York City is taller.
Matteson is filing a zoning application this month, and he also expanding his plans for the development’s proposed Hyatt Dream Hotel, increasing its room volume from 350 to 480 rooms. The development also includes two condo towers and two parking garages that are slated to be built in 2024.
“I’m used to being told you can’t do things,” Matteson said. “But I’m used to getting it done.”
