This for-sale Canadian compound has a miniature pyramid on its grounds

This property in British Columbia may seem unassuming, but it’s quietly equipped with an otherworldly shrine.

In Canada’s westernmost province, this listed home in the unincorporated community of Tappen boasts a two-bedroom, three-bathroom main house, a 1,088-square-foot guest house and a pond — oh, and a modern-day replica of the largest of the tomb of the pharaoh Khufu, better known as the largest of Egypt’s pyramids.

The esoteric outbuilding is a “1/16-scale embodiment of the Great Pyramid of Giza,” explained Jeff Ragsdale of Royal LePage Access Real Estate, who holds the listing for the property. “The current owner, once enmeshed in the throes of a demanding career, sought to sculpt a retreat not just as a home but as an ode to relaxation and the rich tapestry of Egyptian mythology. It’s truly a labor of love.”

Indeed, the compound — which asks $2.36 million — gives the feeling of “walking into a living museum, where history breathes through the walls and meets luxury,” Ragsdale added. “A secluded sanctuary where one can transcend the ordinary while harvesting grapes produced from the rich Shuswap sunshine,” Shuswap being an area located within British Columbia.

(Undeniably, the mere look of the pyramid, which bears an ankh on its facade, is quite the contrast to the surrounding pine trees and lush mountains in the near distance.)

While the main home was constructed in 1983, the guest house and pyramid were added between 1997 and 2000.

Set on 96 acres and at the end of a “secluded road,” the black-gated property also brags a variety of less enigmatic amenities, including a solar-heated indoor pool, multiple saunas, a gym and stained glass throughout.

The grounds are dappled with fruit trees, timber, plus vegetable and berry gardens — as well as a storage barn.

The seller hopes to sell the property furnished, including with the artwork, crystals, library and “numerous Egyptian artifacts” in the pyramid, with some exceptions.
