The Connecticut estate of the award-winning Broadway composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim has been listed for sale at $3.25 million.
The 9.06-acre property in the town of Roxbury features a 3,698-square-foot residence with a history tracing back to 1792. The residence has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a pool with a one-bedroom pool house, a library and a den.
Sondheim, who passed away in 2021, was one of the most influential figures in American theater history – he began his career writing the lyrics for “West Side Story” and “Gypsy” and would later create both music and lyrics for classic productions including “Company,” “Follies,” “A Little Night Music” and “Sunday in the Park with George.” During his career, he received eight Tony Awards, eight Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, Academy Award and the Kennedy Center Honors, and he has theaters named after him in New York City and London.
This is the second Sondheim residence to be listed this year. In July, his Manhattan townhome was listed for $7 million.
