This condo in a famed NYC building is listing for the first time in 16 years

A swanky condo at 15 Central Park West is hitting the market for the first time in 16 years.

The third-floor unit is asking $18.5 million.

The sellers are Rodney Martin and his wife, Deborah, who paid $8.14 million for the home in 2007. Martin earned more than $102 million in total compensation as CEO of Voya Financial before he stepped down to be executive chairman last December.

Before running Voya, Martin was AIG’s chief operating officer for its life insurance unit. Months before AIG imploded in 2008 after paying “several banks top dollar for esoteric securities that had collapsed in value,” Martin nabbed a cushy 30-year, $4 million mortgage from Goldman Sachs, and used it to buy a home at 15 CPW, where Goldman’s then-honcho, Lloyd Blankfein, also owned a residence.

The Martins’ mortgage came with a 4.8% interest rate — 2 percentage points less than average — with interest-only payment requirements for the first 10 years, according to reports.

The loan came just before AIG paid several banks, including Goldman, billions of dollars to settle derivatives contracts, outraging taxpayers who had already spent billions to keep it afloat.

In 2020, the Martins also paid $12.44 million to buy a Miami Beach condo in the Renzo Piano-designed building, Eighty Seven Park.

Martin was the fourth buyer to move into the limestone Central Park West building, designed by Robert A.M. Stern. The three-bedroom, 3½-bath unit is 3,142 square feet and boasts stunning Central Park views. The home opens to a foyer that leads to a great room with high ceilings and herringbone oak floors. There’s also a chef’s kitchen and a main bedroom suite with custom built-ins, double dressing rooms and an ensuite bath with radiant-heated floors.

Building amenities include a concierge, a lobby, a gym with a 75-foot pool, a library, a theater, an on-site garage and a residents-only restaurant.

Listing broker Noble Black, of Douglas Elliman, declined to comment.
