Fox News anchor Bret Baier, one of the most recognizable faces in political journalism, has made waves in the Washington, DC real estate market by listing his extravagant Foxhall property for $31.9 million, setting the stage for a potential record-breaking sale in the nation’s capital.
A mere year after relocating his family to the swanky abode he had meticulously crafted, Baier, 53, and his wife, Amy Baier, have opted to decamp to the sun-kissed shores of Palm Beach, Florida.
The Baier family, which includes their two teenage sons, recently invested $37 million in their Florida retreat, capping a series of frequent visits during the pandemic, which ultimately fueled their decision to make the move permanent.
“I fell in love with the place,” Bret Baier told the Wall Street Journal, which was first to report on the listing. “The move to Florida was a great adventure for our family, and the boys fell in love with it.”
Despite the Floridian allure, Baier’s commitment to his role as Chief Political Anchor of Fox News, and anchor and executive editor of “Special Report,” requires him to commute weekly to Washington for his live shows.
Consequently, the Baier family is now on the lookout for a more modest DC residence.
Their Foxhall property, perched on a sprawling 1.5-acre estate, was originally purchased for $5.4 million in 2018. But the Baiers embarked on an ambitious project, tearing down the existing structure with low ceilings and crafting a grandiose 16,250-square-foot mansion boasting five luxurious bedrooms.
The arduous process of purchasing the land and erecting this opulent edifice tallied up to approximately $30 million.
The mansion, marketed by Daniel Heider of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, offers an array of high-end amenities.
It’s encased in gates and walls to ensure the utmost privacy and security.
Baier, an avid golfer, included a putting green with sand traps, a game room with a golf simulator and a bar in the main parlor to satiate his golfing passion. To cater to the sons’ athletic pursuits, the Baier residence features an indoor sports court.
Collaborating with designer Thomas Pheasant, the Baiers harmoniously blended modern and classical finishes throughout the mansion.
An impressive Art Deco-style marble floor welcomes visitors in the double-height entry, complete with 12-foot black lacquered doors. The primary suite stands out with its limestone terrace, dual bathrooms and two dressing rooms.
The grandeur extends to the dining room, where a lavish wood-and-brass table, designed by Pheasant, can accommodate 14 guests, a testament to the couple’s love for entertaining.
Over the years, they’ve thrown parties that welcomed both Republicans and Democrats, and hosted charity events.
Notably, Amy Baier currently serves as the chair of the Children’s National Hospital Foundation Board.
