Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness bought a $22.1M NYC home a year before separation

In a bombshell announcement that has left Tinseltown stunned, Hollywood power couple Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have revealed their separation after nearly three decades of marriage.

The shockwaves hit just a year after the pair captured headlines with their big-dollar purchase of a ritzy Manhattan penthouse.

The dynamic duo sent tongues wagging when they dropped $22.1 million for the residence, located in Chelsea.

What’s more, this opulent purchase came a mere two months after they decided to list their sprawling West Village triplex for $38.9 million.

(Since that time, there’s been a $10 million price chop for the triplex, at 176 Perry St., as exclusively revealed by The Post. It’s now back on the market for $29.9 million.)

Prior to their Chelsea move in 2022, Jackman and Furness had called Perry Street home for more than a decade.

But their newer digs are nothing short of awe-inspiring. They secured a sleek penthouse in a dazzling tower, envisioned by none other than the Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Jean Nouvel, the genius behind the Louvre in Abu Dhabi.

This penthouse, which had last changed hands in 2012 for $19.4 million, boasts three bedrooms, 3½ bathrooms, and delivers sweeping views that stretch from the Hudson River to Downtown and Midtown Manhattan.

With a vast expanse spanning 4,675 square feet, it’s graced by 14-foot-high floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the interiors with light.

Step inside, and you’ll discover a library that can be transformed into a fourth bedroom, an elevator that whisks you directly into the penthouse and a gourmet kitchen featuring a chic breakfast bar.

The primary suite comes complete with a sprawling dressing room and a spa-like bathroom, boasting six fixtures.

Outdoor enthusiasts will swoon over the penthouse’s loggia and a separate terrace on the main floor. And for the pièce-de-résistance, ascend to the rooftop terrace, where you’ll be treated to a deck, an outdoor kitchen and those awe-inspiring Hudson River vistas.

Residents of this exclusive tower revel in top-notch amenities, including a 70-foot lap pool that seamlessly transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a lavish sauna, a private screening room and concierge services. There’s also a full-time doorman.

The listing for this property was previously handled by Noble Black with Douglas Elliman.

While it’s an absolute dream home by all accounts, it appears that one, or both, of its former occupants will now bid adieu to this opulent haven.

In a joint statement released to the public, the couple shared their heartfelt sentiments, stating, “We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.”

The couple also conveyed their heartfelt appreciation for the respect of their privacy during this trying time, signing off their poignant message as “Deb and Hugh Jackman.”

It’s a striking departure from Hugh’s candid remarks in 2021 on “Today” with Hoda Kotb, where he openly celebrated their marriage, saying, “People often say, ‘Oh my God, marriage is so much work.’ There are some things you gotta live by, but it doesn’t feel like that. It’s been one of the best things in my life.”
