Paris 2024 Olympic Games: A unique opportunity to host

Olympic Games

With 3.25 million tickets sold in less than three weeks during the first phase of ticket sales1, excitement among sporting fans from France and all over the world is already starting to build for next year’s Olympic Games, taking place in Paris in the summer of 2024.

This excitement is also reflected in Airbnb search data for stays during the Olympic Games Paris 2024 (July 26-August 11), which were six times higher2 during the first phase of ticket sales compared to previous weeks. With more than a year to go until the event, this type of surge is unprecedented on the platform in terms of lead time.

As a Global Olympic Partner for Paris 2024, Airbnb is dedicated to ensuring the success of this unique event by helping to meet the accommodation needs of the local organizing committee and athletes, fostering special Games-time connections, and delivering long-term benefits to local communities.

Now is the time consider hosting with a home or a room

Only a few days after the second phase of ticket sales, we had already observed a nine-fold increase in searches for stays during the Games, while more than 75 percent of Hosts in the participating cities have not yet opened their calendar for these dates.

According to the latest data, the most searched amenities by guests for stays in the Paris region during the Paris 2024 Games are wifi, a kitchen space and a washer, suggesting that guests are choosing Airbnb as a way of feeling more at home.

Airbnb Rooms are particularly attractive to couples and young travelers: over 50 percent of bookings with two guests and 30 percent4 of bookings with guests aged between 18 and 29 have been in Airbnb Rooms during the Games.

Airbnb Setup makes it easier to get started as a Host

Last year, Airbnb made it easier to start hosting on the platform through Airbnb Setup, which provides new Hosts with the option to match for free with a Superhost for one-to-one guidance, host an experienced guest on your first booking, and receive one-tap access to a specially trained team of Community Support agents.

Host with peace of mind

Hosts, especially when first starting out, want to be able to use Airbnb with peace of mind. Airbnb recently expanded the free top-to-bottom protection AirCover covering potential damage to the accommodation and belongings caused by guests. Airbnb has also developed a system for verifying traveler identity and a reservation screening tool that analyzes hundreds of factors and blocks certain bookings that show a high risk for disruptive parties and property damage.
