Airbnb aims for everyone to have positive experiences when hosting and traveling on the platform, and this means continually evolving our policies, products, team training, and our partnerships with experts.
In 2022, we launched our Trust and Safety Advisory Coalition (TSAC), bringing together over 20 expert organizations to support our efforts in creating sound policy, products, and educational resources for stakeholders and peace of mind for Airbnb’s communities. The TSAC is uniquely positioned to help Airbnb understand pressing trust and safety issues at a global scale both on and off the platform.
In the year since launch, the members of our Trust and Safety Advisory Coalition have partnered with us on a number of important initiatives. This includes updates to the community policies that govern our platform, employee training, and educational resources for our community to help combat child exploitation, a nationwide pool safety campaign in the US, and the expansion of dedicated safety support for solo travelers.
As we mark the one year anniversary of this coalition, we’re also proud to welcome three new members: the Bay Area Global Health Alliance, the International Justice Mission, and the Major Cities Chiefs Association. Our collaboration with these organizations has helped inform our women’s safety campaign, updates to community policies, and assist in local law enforcement collaborations. We know that having subject matter experts share their expertise with our teams helps us to facilitate a positive environment for our Hosts and guests. These organizations will join our existing members in bringing their collective expertise to support our shared mission.
“As a member of a diverse group of subject matter experts with the shared goal of exploring and exchanging ideas related to safety and emerging needs, the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA) is pleased to be part of the Airbnb Trust and Safety Advisory Coalition. The MCCA is excited to continue our work in helping create a positive impact for our communities.”
Laura Cooper, Executive Director of Major Cities Chiefs Association
“The partnership between International Justice Mission and Airbnb’s Trust and Safety Advisory Coalition exemplifies the power of collaboration in the fight against exploitation. Together, we stand united, relentlessly striving to create a world where every person’s freedom and safety are fiercely protected, both online and within the walls of our shared spaces.”
Emily Coker, Criminal Intelligence Specialist & Open-Source Analyst, International Justice Mission
“It is an honor to serve on Airbnb’s Trust and Safety Advisory Commission (TSAC) with such a wide range of multidisciplinary experts to inform policies that support Hosts in difficult situations, guests stay safe and healthy, and can literally save lives. The Bay Area Global Health Alliance is a multi-sector network that believes that today’s challenges can only be solved by catalyzing the power of collaboration across sectors and geographies. Airbnb understands that, breaks down the silos and calls on the diverse TSAC to come together for the collective health, trust and safety of millions around the world. It’s a wonderful model.”
Sara Anderson, Executive Director of Bay Area Global Health Alliance
Trust is at the heart of everything we do at Airbnb, and there’s no end to this crucial work. We are committed to continually growing our efforts to promote safe travel experiences for our community in counsel with our Trust and Safety Advisory Coalition partners, and further evolving and strengthening this coalition.
